Placerville City Police Chief George Nielsen is proud and honored to declare his candidacy for the position of El Dorado County Sheriff. George Nielsen, 47, has been serving as a California peace officer for the past 24 years, 19 of those years in local supervisory, management and executive law enforcement positions. Nielsen has been a member of the City of Placerville Police Department for the past 20 years, serving from Police Officer to Chief of Police. He has been the Placerville Chief of Police for the past 5+ years.

Their website is designed using standard HTML, along with JavaScript to add dynamic functionality.  It is built on the WordPress publishing platform, which in this case is being used as a secure content management system.  Several widgets have been installed including an event management system to help keep track of public events.  The site is also linked dynamically to their twitter and facebook pages. The theme incorporates an image slideshow to make the front page more dynamic, and while the site is live, it is still undergoing some modifications.

The site has been taken down due to the end of the election campaign, unfortunately he was not able to continue into the final election process while his site ran it was receiving on average 100k hits per month towards the end of the election.
